Abstract
We have demonstrated a mode-locked thulium/holmium doped fiber laser using carbon nanotubes as the saturable absorber. Combined with dispersion management, 250 fs pulse width and 1.58 nJ energy pulses , with a bandwidth tunable from 40-62 nm, were obtained directly from the fiber oscillator. Wide spectral and high energy pulses from mode-locked thulium/holmium co-doped fiber laser are likely to be further compressed to sub 100 fs.
