The thermal sensitivity of optical path length in standard single mode fibers down to cryogenic temperatures

Abstract

We measured the thermal sensitivity of SMF-28 fiber in the range -190°C-25°C and measured a > 3-fold decrease for uncoated fiber towards the lowest measured temperature and far higher sensitivities for coated and jacketed fibers.
