Self-starting mode-locked femtosecond forsterite laser with a semiconductor saturable-absorber mirror

Abstract

We report on a self-starting mode-locked femtosecond Cr:forsterite laser pumped by a diode-pumped Nd:YVO4 laser. The mode locking is initiated by a semiconductor saturable-absorber mirror (SESAM). We also present the measured group delay of the forsterite crystal and the SESAM.
