Realization of a uniform circular source using a two-dimensional binary filter

Abstract

A uniform-intensity circular light source has been realized from a Gaussian laser beam by using an area-modulated binary filter. The technique preserves the wave front, and as a result the uniform circular source can be located at a plane perpendicular to the axis of propagation over a wide area.
