Abstract

Phosphors have been used for decades in the conversion of soft x rays into visible photons for detection by solid-state devices or photomultipliers. However there have been few studies of the quantum efficiency or structure of phosphors in the soft-x-ray region. Here we present measurements of the quantum efficiency and flux linearity and discuss surface recombination-induced structure in 16 phosphors.
