Abstract
A specially designed vanadium dioxide () metasurface-based temperature sensor was investigated. In the configuration, stacked silicon dioxide and aluminum oxide multilayered structures were used, wherein the top metasurface has sub-wavelength-sized periodically arranged nanodiscs (in the form of an array), and the bottom silver layer acts as a perfect reflector. Spectral characteristics and sensitivity of the structure were observed under varying temperatures. Apart from these, the effects of nanodisc radius, thickness of the top metasurface, and incidence angle (of light impinging the metasurface) on the spectral features were also reported.
