Radiative-lifetime measurements for I i and I ii

Not Accessible

Abstract

Delayed-coincidence measurements of radiative lifetimes have been made on 3 levels in the 5p4 6p configuration of I i and 11 levels in the 5p3 6p configuration of I ii. Some of the levels are pertinent to the neutral iodine laser transitions and the He-I+ laser transitions. For these measurements, a new excitation method has been developed in which a discharge plasma is utilized as an electron source.
