Abstract

A description is given of the high-resolution vacuum-grating spectrometer that is in use at the University of Tennessee. The mechanical details and the modified Pfund-type optics are described. The calibration system, method of source stabilization, gas-handling system, absorption cells, and methods of recording data used in the investigation of the infrared spectrum of HF are also described. The results of the investigation are given in Part II.
