Image Synthesis and Lens Response Using Spot Diagrams

Abstract

A simple shadowgraph is used to measure the square wave response of a lens system from its computed spot diagrams. Some fundamental aberrations are studied. Images of a silhouette test object are synthesized and compared to those produced by the lens system itself.
