Abstract
Based on the complementary media theory, we propose a way to transform a
small object into a large one by coating it with a metamaterial shell with negative
refractive index. Small waveguides made with this structure can replace large
virtual tunnels to connect two separated waveguides. A small portal coating with
complementary media is also designed in which a large entrance is concealed from
electromagnetic wave detection. Two-dimensional numerical simulations are performed
to illustrate the designed devices.
