Abstract
The radiometric method for surface temperature measurements in
meteorology and its airborne use are discussed, with emphasis on
possible errors of this method. These are caused by the air layer
between radiometer and target, by the nonblackbody characteristic, and
by the nonuniformity of natural surfaces. Methods for correcting and
reducing these errors are described. Examples of airborne surface
temperature measurements are presented.
