Abstract
The transmission characteristics of thin carbon films have been investigated from 200 Å to 2000 Å and their use for the detection of the 304-Å He ii line in the presence of Lyman−α and 584-Å radiation is discussed. The use of a plastic scintillator for supporting the carbon films provides further discrimination between the 304-Å line and longer wavelengths. The relative fluorescence efficiency of the scintillator has also been measured from 200 Å to 2000 Å.
