Abstract

The present paper is a continuation of the former one on an autocollimation method of optical glass heterogeneity measurement [ Appl. Opt. 4, 181 ( 1965)]. It discusses the influence of the various measured magnitudes on the measuring error of refractive index gradient. The description of the method of the wedge angle measurement in the glass block under examination is given and the control of the measured distance between the cross-hairs image position is described. In the last part an example of refractive index gradient measurement is considered and a graph of the refractive index change in the glass block is given. The limiting values of the index of refraction in the glass block were controlled with the help of the refractometer measurement.
