Abstract

Recent results in planetary spectroscopy of the major planets are summarized. Some methods of analysis for atmospheric composition, thermal and kinematic characteristics are described. Our knowledge of these atmospheres is quite poor, but can be greatly improved by further observation with modern spectroscopic equipment.
