Data reduction for stellar speckle interferograms of binary stars based on the shift-and-add method

Abstract

The shift-and-add (SAA) method is used to estimate the magnitude difference of binary star components. A simple procedure based on the SAA method enables an accurate estimation of the magnitude difference. Some computer simulations confirm this. The use of this procedure in stellar speckle interferograms is also demonstrated.
