Abstract
A procedure and equations are presented for designing holographic concave gratings suitable for an off-plane mounting constant-deviation monochromator. To compensate the off-plane aberration, we introduced off-plane recording configurations. The experimental results indicated that the off-plane monochromator with its newly designed grating has a resolution comparable with that of an in-plane monochromator and extremely low stray light due to double diffraction.
