Systolic time-integrating acoustooptic binary processor

Abstract

A time-integrating acoustooptic systolic processor for matrix–vector multiplication is described. The system is based on the twos complement arithmetic, which offers both high accuracy and bipolar number handling. Product formation is achieved via the integration constant of a detector array. Different products are summed via the integration property of a cylindrical lens. The processor’s throughput rate and power consumption are discussed along with other system issues.
