Abstract
In the past few years, a number of experiments have probed the rate of scattering of free carriers in semiconductors, primarily free conduction-band electrons in GaAs, as a function of electron density,1-6 The beauty of these experiments is that although the absolute rate of scattering at a given density is difficult to determine, the relative change of the carrier-carrier scattering rate as density varies can be measured extremely accurately. Therefore, these results provide stringent tests of the theory of scattering of charged particles.
