The New Design of the IFU Tropospheric Ozone Lidar

Abstract

In 1990, a UV lidar for measurements of the vertical distribution of tropospheric ozone was completed at IFU. The wide range of this system (0.1 to 10 km) has made possible investigations of ozone in all layers of the troposphere. In 1991, the operation of the lidar started. Almost 580 sets of backscatter profiles were recorded during that year and the diurnal and annual ozone variations in the different seasons could be traced.
