Local Wind Impact Sensing using State of Polarization Measurement on a Live Short-Haul Aerial Fibre Cable

Abstract

A short aerial cable spun on a high-voltage line is used to monitor wind-induced stress on the cable infrastructure. Span-by-span localized early warnings may be issued based on the state of polarization transients.
