Cryptographic Key Generation Using Conventional Single-Mode Fiber and an Optical Time Domain Reflectometer

Abstract

Generation of cryptographic key is demonstrated by conventional equipment for an optical network. Random bit sequences obtained from an optical time domain reflectometry of a single-mode fiber satisfies a quality of randomness as cryptographic keys.
