Analysis of SBS-Induced Performance Penalties and Their Mitigation in 50G TDM-PON Downstream

Abstract

We study SBS for 50G TDM-PON downstream showing that considerable performance penalties can occur depending on the specific operating conditions of the transmitter. Frequency dithering can mitigate SBS without impact on other performance metrics.
