Long-Haul DMD-Unmanaged 6-Mode-Multiplexed Transmission Employing Cyclic Mode-Group Permutation

Abstract

We demonstrate a long-haul 6-mode-multiplexed WDM transmission with a record reach of 3250 km. Newly-developed mode-group permutation technique mitigated modal-dispersion-impact by > 70%. We also show diversity-enhanced MIMO transmission extending the achievable reach over 9000 km.
