Abstract
In future wireless broadband communication systems in the 60-GHz band the optical fiber is an attractive means for feeding the base stations of the wireless network. Therefore, several methods were proposed.1-4 In this paper we show, to our knowledge for the first time, the error-free (BER ≤10−10) reception of a 155 Mbit/s signal transmitted over 1 km of optical fiber and upconverted to 58 GHz by optoelectronic conversion using a mode-locked laser (MLL).
