Abstract

Cylindrical-bore dies have long been used for applying coatings to optical waveguide fiber. This paper will present the results of a theoretical analysis of such die application for both Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids and will show a comparison of experimental coating-thickness data with values predicted by the theory.
