Abstract
Optical disk file is suitable for high density recording, read-only and write-once type are on the market. For write-once type optical disk, higher data transfer rate and higher density recording are required for the future development. Present write-once optical disk uses the recording method of making a circular pit corresponding to coded-data ”1”. On the other hand, pit-edge recording, namely, the leading or trailing edge of a pit corresponding to coded-data ”1”, can achieve about twice higher BPI (bit-per-inch) than that of the former method. Up to the present, the ablative recording media have been thought to be difficult to apply this pit-edge recording because of their uncontrollabi1ity of pit shapes. However, this problem can be solved by introducing a new compensation technique during writing and reading the data.
