Abstract

In Brewster-angle laser slabs, there are two significant types of pump-induced slab distortions [1]: 1) edge distortions, caused by the thermal expansion of the edge claddings as they absorb the ASE; and 2) central distortions, caused by the preferential heating of one of the two sides of a laser slab by the flashlamp pump radiation.
