Calculation of the correlation of intensity function for a variable C n 2

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

We present numerical calculations of the correlation of intensities in a Kolmogorov medium with an altitude dependent Cn2. In addition, asymptotic expressions are derived. These results are obtained by using the two-scale method, which has been previously reported in the literature. The results indicate that the correlation of intensities cannot be approximated by a single phase screen at an arbitrary altitude, as is the case with the scintillation index. We show further that in the perturbation limit the problem can be deconvolved to yield the Cn2 dependence on altitude.
