Optical liquid crystal TV and hologram-based position-coded multiple-valued logic and arithmetic operations

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Truth-table look-up processing methods have been effectively used in the implementation of parallel optical digital computation. A new optical implementation of multiple-valued logic operations that employs an optical holographic look-up table addressed by a pair of position-coded liquid crystal TVs is proposed. Realizations of optical modified signed digit post as well as residue logic and arithmetic processing elements are presented. Experimental results are included.
