Subcarrier-Based Coherent PON Architecture for a Converged Fiber Infrastructure in Smart Cities

Abstract

We propose a coherent PON architecture featuring low-cost DFB lasers at the ONUs and supporting a variety of network services by flexibly assigning subcarriers. We demonstrate error- free reception up to 108Gbit/s with 30dB loss budget.
