Abstract
Silicon waveguide wavelength add/drop device composed of a center waveguide with polarization rotator grating and input/output waveguides placed near the center waveguide is proposed. The high order TE and TM modes are used to define the output direction of dropped light. The device can be used to obtain a polarization insensitive wavelength add/drop. The operation principle is verified using three-dimensional finite division time domain simulation.
