Abstract
The nonlinear waveguide ring resonators have a potential application as the switching and the fast modulating elements within optical systems and prior efforts have concentrated on the study of the optical bistability. In the previous papers such a behavior was caused by the nonlinear phase shift in the waveguide loop and the directional couplers were assumed to be linear.[1,2] Meanwhile the nonlinear directional coupler transmission is strongly dependent on the input light intensities and the phase differences between input channels.[3,4] Therefore the nonlinearity in the directional coupler should influence the total transmission characteristics.
