Abstract
Although stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) is an efficient process for the production of phase conjugate reflection of pulsed laser radiation, its operation is limited to a narrow range of laser powers. The laser power must be sufficient to produce strong reflectivity but below the power range at which the onset of detrimental nonlinearities, including optical breakdown, occurs.
