Abstract
Broadband incoherent time-delayed four-wave-mixing techniques have recently been used in spectroscopic and relaxation studies in gases and solids. We review pioneering theoretical and experimental work by our group and others and present new results extending this technique to the ultrafast domain. Source autocorrelation traces have been obtained with FWHM under 25 fs, and coherent transients in this regime have been observed in glasses doped with semiconductor microcrystallites.
