Abstract
The National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS) Airborne Sounding Testbed (NAST) and Scanning High-resolution Interferometer Sounder (SHIS) systems were part of the high-altitude Proteus aircraft payload implemented recently in the European AQUA Thermodynamic Experiment (EAQUATE). Observations from these airborne interferometers were obtained spatially and temporally coincident with other ground-, balloon-, airborne-, and satellite-based measurement systems, such as the Airborne Research Interferometer Evaluation System (ARIES) interferometer carried aboard the UK Met Office BAE-146 aircraft and the Atmospheric InfraRed Sounder (AIRS) on the Aqua satellite. Inter-comparisons of infrared spectral radiances measured from these independent airborne and spaceborne measurement systems during EAQUATE and other recent NAST field campaigns will be presented.
