Abstract
An original folded AWG multiplexer/demultiplexer has been fabricated, measured and analytically compared to a conventional unfolded design. The present analysis demonstrates that for equal length and high channel count the folded design provides significantly lower “worst case” losses and approximately 1.5 time larger free spectral range than conventional AWG multiplexer/demultiplexer.
