Abstract

Transient absorption spectra and kinetics of the photodissociation of CH2I2 in solution were recorded with a femtosecond laser system. Excitation of CH2I2 in the spectral range 300-350 nm mainly results in the formation of CH2I + I(2P3/2). Transient absorption spectra of CH2I2 in acetonitrile as solvent at different delay times from 0 fs to 15 picoseconds are shown in the figure. At t=0, the transient absorption spectrum exhibits two bands at 500 and 700 nm.
