SONiC-based Network Operating System for Open Whitebox Optical Transport Equipment

Abstract

In this paper, we propose and demonstrate a SONiC-based network operating system for open whitebox optical transport equipment including optical transponders, amplifiers and protection switches. An optical network linecard abstraction interface is introduced to create a unified and vendor neutral linecard abstraction layer.
