Abstract

The first mode-coupled receiver based SFP transceiver for GPON exploiting a photonic integrated circuit (PIC) has been developed and tested with a commercial GPON system. Measurements show the key performance advantages of reduced upstream split loss arising from utilising the MCR in a PON application.
