Influence of coherent mesoscale structure on satellite-based Doppler lidar wind measurements

Abstract

The potential impact of mesoscale patterns of winds, clouds and aerosols upon satellite based lidar estimates of the global winds are discussed with examples taken from a NASA simulation study.
