Abstract
We analyse experimentally a 33 GHz optical frequency comb (OFC) in a InAs/InP quantum-dash based single-section passively mode-locked laser subject to broadband optical noise injection. The Fabry-Pérot cavity laser is emitting around 1530 nm with a 25 mA pumping current at threshold. Light from a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) having a spectral bandwidth of 100 nm centered at 1550 nm (100mA-600mA of gain current) was used as the optical noise source. A tunable laser source with a linewidth of 400 kHz was used in the stepped-heterodyne (SH) measurement [1] of the optical phase spectrum.
