Abstract

Vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) have been extensively investigated due to their attracting properties (emission through the surface, single longitudinal mode operation, circular beam profile….) They have also stimulated many fundamental studies designed to understand how to couple the major part of the spontaneous emission in the lasing mode, and in order to reach a thresholdless (or near thresholdless) laser.
