Interferometric sensor for absolute distance measurements based on an external cavity semiconductor laser

Abstract

A sensor principle is presented that uses an antireflection coated diode laser together with a technical surface as an external Fabry-Perot resonator. Modulation of the diode current creates a distance sensor with advantageous properties.
