Abstract
A directional-coupler optical switch based on the field-induced guide (FIG) has been demonstrated for the first time to our knowledge. When the applied biases to the field-induced waveguides were controlled, the device exhibited good switching characteristics between two output ends with a crosstalk of less than −10 dB.
