Gold Nanoshell Enhanced Fluorophores for Multi-Frequency Near Infrared Fluorescence Optical Tomography

Abstract

Optical Molecular imaging is an emerging alternative to nuclear-based imaging techniques for detecting cancer. In this paper, we investigate reflectance mode multi-frequency domain optical imaging with novel theranostic nanophotonic probes integrating silica core gold nanostructures with Indocyanine Green dye. From phase sensitive images obtained from homodyne optical measurements we analyze amplitude and phase contrast to determine optimal measurement acquisition parameters for nanoshell enhanced fluorescent dyes.
