Second Harmonic Generation of Nd:YAG Laser Using 9-ppm Cerium-Doped KTP

Abstract

We studied second harmonic generation using 9-ppm cerium-doped KTiOPO4. A conversion efficiency of 65 % was achieved using a flashlamp-pumped Nd:YAG laser. Optical damage was fully suppressed using a heated cerium-doped KTiOPO4 at 145oC. The crystal also brought an efficient quasi-continuous-wave 532-nm-light-source pumped with a mode-locked Nd:YAG laser. When the mode-locked laser was pumped with 24-W laser-diode, an output power of 3.2 W at 532 nm was obtained and the power was 15% higher than that using a commercial KTiOPO4.
