Abstract
We report the Cr2+ → Fe2+ ions energy transfer under ~1.73 µm excitation of the Cr2+,Fe2+:Zn1-xMnxSe (x ≈ 0.2) single crystal for the first time and the results were compared with the crystal containing ~2× higher manganese amount (x ≈ 0.4) in the host material. Mid-infrared laser generation from Cr2+ ions at ~2.3 µm and ~2.5 µm, and from Fe2+ ions at ~4.4 µm and ~4.75 µm of the x ≈ 0.2 and x ≈ 0.4 samples, respectively, is presented.
