Abstract
Room temperature CW stimulated emission of trivalent uranium ions was obtained at 2.827 μm when pumped between 0.81 and 0.89 μm. From the emission spectrum, the 4I11/12 and 4I9/2 Stark components are identified and the pumping threshold is studied. Calculation of the oscillator strength for interStark transitions yields an estimation of the radiative transition probabilities. Lifetime of the Stark components of the 4I11/2 multiplet is measured for different concentration and the reabsorption processes are analysed.
