Abstract

Simulations and earlier off-line experimental data suggest1,2 that a wavefront sensor based on an artificial neural network processor may provide a simple way to measure low-order wavefront distortion in an astronomical telescope. The neural network is trained to estimate the low-order modes from focused images of natural or artificial guide stars. In this paper we report the status of further simulations and experiments to implement and test a network for wavefront control on the SOR 1.5-meter telescope.
