Abstract

In this study, a polarization rotator (PR) with a simple structure distribution based on square lattice photonic crystal fiber (PCF) has been proposed. The unit cell in the cladding is designed of two circular air holes that are distributed along the diagonal. Simulation result illustrates that a polarization conversion efficiency of 99.4% is obtained with a device length of 53:2 m at wavelength of 1:55 m. Additionally, the structural tolerance and wavelength dependence of the proposed PR are also discussed in detail.
